About the position

The Social Worker (Program Coordinator) at the Department of Veterans Affairs is responsible for managing the HUD/VASH Program within the VA Connecticut Healthcare System. This role involves administrative and clinical supervision of social work staff, program development, and collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance services for homeless veterans. The position requires a strong focus on data analysis, compliance with accreditation standards, and leadership in program implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and administer the HUD/VASH Program for the VA Connecticut Healthcare System.
  • Submit statistical data to the Homeless Operations Management and Evaluation System (HOMES).
  • Review and analyze data to improve service quality for veterans.
  • Develop programs in collaboration with VA and community partners to serve homeless veterans.
  • Implement clinical practices in accordance with best practices and accreditation standards.
  • Provide administrative and clinical supervision to HUD/VASH Social Work Supervisors and their teams.
  • Conduct interviews and select new staff members in collaboration with the HUD/VASH team.
  • Facilitate team meetings and oversee the overall HUD/VASH program operations.
  • Collaborate with various services and leadership to ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Develop action plans to maintain or increase compliance and report outcomes to leadership.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
  • Licensed or certified to independently practice social work at the advanced practice level.
  • One year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in social work.
  • Demonstrated advanced practice skills and judgment in social work.
