About the position

The Social Worker (Program Coordinator) at the Department of Veterans Affairs Richmond VA Medical Center plays a crucial role in the Suicide Prevention Program. This position involves providing direct support to Veterans, managing high-risk cases, and coordinating outreach and training efforts to enhance suicide prevention awareness. The incumbent will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and will be responsible for program development and evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide case management and support for high-risk Veterans.
  • Coordinate outreach and training initiatives for suicide prevention.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment teams to ensure comprehensive care for Veterans.
  • Facilitate group psychosocial educational support for Veterans in various care settings.
  • Monitor program outcomes and implement performance improvement measures.
  • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments of Veterans and their families.
  • Provide clinical supervision and training to junior social workers.
  • Participate in community outreach events and represent the program at various functions.
  • Compile and track data for program evaluation and performance improvement.
  • Assist in postvention services following suicides.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in social work from an accredited institution.
  • Current state licensure or certification to practice social work at the master's level.
  • One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in social work.
  • Demonstrated advanced practice skills and judgment in social work.
  • Knowledge of program coordination and administration.
