The Program Coordinator for the Department of Veterans Affairs is a pivotal role responsible for managing and overseeing the triage of referrals from various medical clinics, including inpatient psychiatric wards, physical medicine and rehabilitation programs, primary care clinics, psychiatric urgent care, post-traumatic stress recovery clinics, addictive disorders services, and general mental health outpatient clinics. The incumbent will have comprehensive oversight of administrative and programmatic resources, directing the activities of a multidisciplinary clinical team to ensure that veterans receive the highest quality of care. This position requires a strong focus on program management, including the development and implementation of policies and procedures, determining program needs, and overseeing the quality and quantity of services provided. The incumbent will also set priorities and establish both short and long-range program goals and initiatives, ensuring alignment with the overall mission of the Veterans Health Administration. In addition to program management, the Program Coordinator will conduct screening assessments to determine the appropriateness of referrals to the PPH program, consulting with referral sources within both Mental Health and Primary Care, as well as Rehabilitation and Extended Care Service Lines. The role involves delivering specialized services to veterans and their families, addressing both immediate and long-term effects of acute psychiatric crises and chronic mental illnesses. The incumbent will be responsible for triaging and assigning referrals for services systematically, making treatment recommendations, and monitoring the provision of services to ensure compliance with VA guidelines and standards. As a supervisory position, the Program Coordinator will oversee a team of social workers, providing administrative, technical, and clinical supervision necessary for the effective functioning of the unit. This includes managing staff workloads, ensuring equitable distribution of work, and fostering an environment that promotes equal employment opportunity and affirmative action.
