About the position

The Section Chief of Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery Programs (SCPSR&R) for the Eastern Colorado Health Care System (ECHCS) is responsible for overseeing and supervising multiple programs within the Mental Health Service. This role involves managing a multidisciplinary team, ensuring compliance with VHA directives, and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance the delivery of recovery-focused treatment for Veterans. The incumbent will also provide clinical supervision and maintain quality control across the programs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and supervise multiple distinct programs within the ECHCS Mental Health Service.
  • Assist the Associate Chief of Staff for Mental Health Services in the overall operation of Mental Health Service.
  • Ensure implementation of VHA Directives and Handbooks related to Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery.
  • Collaborate with the Evidence Based Practice program coordinator to integrate recovery-focused treatment elements.
  • Monitor quality control issues and performance measures in collaboration with senior leadership.
  • Oversee compliance with accreditation standards and mental health performance measures.
  • Conduct regular meetings with the Associate Chief of Staff for Mental Health Services regarding program issues.
  • Provide biopsychosocial assessments and diagnostic services for Veterans.
  • Establish therapeutic relationships with Veterans and their families.
  • Provide comprehensive, evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Have a master's degree in social work from an accredited school.
  • Must be licensed or certified to independently practice social work at the master's degree level.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in large scale program coordination and administration.
  • Ability to analyze organizational and operational problems and develop solutions.
  • Experience in managing and directing major specialty programs.

  • Experience working with Veterans with serious mental illness within the psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery model.
  • Supervisory experience in clinical and business operations.
  • Experience in community-based care and interdisciplinary teams.
