About the position

The Social Worker (Psychotherapist) position within the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) at the US Veterans Health Administration focuses on providing comprehensive mental health services to veterans. The role involves conducting psychosocial assessments, implementing treatment modalities, and offering both group and individual therapy. The social worker will work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to support veterans facing serious mental health challenges, ensuring they receive the necessary care and resources.

Responsibilities

• Complete psychosocial assessments and diagnostic interviews to assess mental health conditions.
• Implement treatment modalities and provide skill-based and evidence-based psychotherapies in group and individual settings.
• Serve veterans experiencing severe crises and significant deficits in coping skills.
• Establish and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with veterans and their families.
• Communicate effectively with diverse populations regarding community resources and VA benefits.
• Enter all veteran/family contacts in the electronic record using appropriate formats and templates.
• Provide case management services throughout the continuum of care.

Requirements

• Master's degree in social work from an accredited institution.
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) certification required for GS-11 level and above.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.
• 1 year of experience in social work or related field for GS-11 level.

Nice-to-haves

• Doctoral degree in social work.
