About the position

The Softlines & Accessories Product Designer at Walt Disney Imagineering is responsible for driving the design and development of apparel and accessories from concept to production. This role involves collaborating with various teams to ensure product quality, safety, and alignment with brand standards while maintaining timelines and tracking achievements. The position is part of a project hire for 2.5 years, with no guarantee of permanent placement, and reports to the Product Development Assistant Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Drive product design and development for apparel and accessories categories.
  • Support the design and delivery of products, owning all aspects of the product development process.
  • Stay in sync with sourcing criteria and ensure all products pass safety tests and standards.
  • Maintain development timelines and track achievements.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team on in-store visual design.
  • Work with marketing on creative development and marketing strategy.
  • Support securing company assets through effective Loss Prevention.
  • Promote and maintain a safe working and shopping environment.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to design and approve all products.
  • Explain a point of view clearly and positively while being flexible with feedback.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in product design and development, production scheduling, project management, and coordinating marketing activities.
  • Proven computer software skills in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Suite, and Keynote on a Windows platform.
  • Proficient in FLEX or similar PLM software.
  • Strong communication skills across all professional interactions.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional partnerships with internal teams and external partners.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects.
  • Proven success in decision-making, tact, and flexibility.
  • Highly motivated problem solver with attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Solid knowledge of visual merchandising principles.
  • Previous skills/experience as a graphic artist.
  • Prior experience or knowledge of properties within The Walt Disney Co.
