About the position

The Software Application and Web Developer at KBR is responsible for supporting government customers in the Washington Metropolitan Area by establishing and maintaining a development environment that adheres to industry standards and best practices. This role involves managing development epics, supporting an agile sprint development schedule, and maintaining business process applications while consolidating disparate processes into a single cloud-based capability.

Responsibilities

  • Apply industry standards and best practices for managing test tool and software development, including discrepancy tracking, reporting, and resolution.
  • Utilize industry best practices for development, testing, staging, and production environments, including Infrastructure as Code and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment tools.
  • Establish and maintain an agile sprint development environment for web tools and test tool development, adhering to agile processes and methodologies.
  • Manage and maintain content for the customer web presence across multiple security domains, including site design and content updates.
  • Perform physical installation, customization, support, maintenance, and license updates for business process applications.
  • Develop a consolidated business process tool to integrate and replace current project management capabilities, providing ongoing support and maintenance.
  • Provide automated and manual test management capabilities, including standardizing test objectives and procedures.
  • Provide database design, development, and maintenance for test-related web and tools projects.
  • Attend and support customer planning events and technical meetings.
  • Participate in vendor product reviews and daily startup and wrap-up meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science with 5 or more years of related technical experience (additional professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Well versed in software engineering methodology and processes.
  • Experience with web design, administration, and database-driven applications (PHP, MySQL, HTML/CSS).
  • Familiarity with Java, Flex, JavaScript, Python, and other coding languages.
  • Experience with testing and configuration management tools such as Git.
  • Familiarity with GIS systems and tools (commercial or open source) and Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) specifications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with security concepts in web applications.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based solutions and architectures.
