About the position

The Software Applications Developer III (ORACLE PL SQL) at Texas A&M University System serves as a technical lead for software development projects, providing oversight and ensuring compliance with technical standards. This role involves coordinating the activities of a software development team, conducting system analysis, application development, and software quality assurance, while also maintaining effective communication with both business users and IT professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze business and technical problems faced by Student Business Services and design, recommend, and implement technical solutions.
  • Develop complex database modules and interfaces as part of application development.
  • Ensure software quality assurance by adhering to programming standards and application standards.
  • Create and maintain Accounts Receivable database information for billing, refunding, and reporting; conduct impact analysis of changes in processes.
  • Assist in database development and design, upgrade current database processes, and suggest improvements based on data structure analysis.
  • Work with clients and functional analysts to determine automation specifications and develop detailed system design documents.
  • Analyze, design, develop, and maintain software applications and database system changes to automate and redesign business processes.
  • Serve as software lead in the peer review of custom Accounts Receivable code and provide necessary system documentation.
  • Coordinate technical activities of a project team and complete reports for management and users, including status and progress summaries.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of software applications developer experience.
  • Knowledge of programming using SQL and PL/SQL.
  • Ability to design and develop computer programs, software, and applications to solve problems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication with business users and IT professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with high accuracy and professionalism.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
