About the position

The Software Application Developer at Peraton is responsible for developing database-driven applications in a client/server environment, primarily supporting the United States Postal Service (USPS) Central Repair Facility (CRF) in Topeka, KS. This role involves requirements gathering, problem analysis, and application design, focusing on enhancing the functionality of essential automation and mail processing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop database-driven applications in a client/server environment.
  • Perform requirements gathering and documentation.
  • Conduct problem analysis to determine the best approach for application design.
  • Design, document, and deploy database changes to support application requirements.
  • Utilize software development tools to design and code application software using Object Oriented Methodology.
  • Develop and interpret database model diagrams to implement sound business logic.
  • Engage in extensive communication with internal personnel and external customer representatives regarding operations and project specifics.
  • Conduct briefings and participate in technical meetings for internal or external representatives.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years related work experience, or a Master's degree with 3+ years related work experience, or a high school diploma/equivalent with 9+ years related work experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship required; must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Proficiency in coding using Visual C++ / C#, Windows .Net Framework, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JQuery.
  • Demonstrated experience coding TSQL in a Microsoft SQL Server environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Developer Studio 2010 / 2013 / 2015, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 / 2012, Microsoft Internet Information Server, and Windows Server 2008 / 2012.
  • Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
