The Workday Student team is dedicated to enhancing the workday for Higher Education administrators and faculty, while also empowering students on their educational journeys. This role involves collaborating with a talented team of developers to deliver high-class customer solutions, focusing on the student recruitment process and providing configurable online application capabilities to institutions. You will be responsible for implementing new features using React and/or Xpresso (XO), supporting existing products, and ensuring high customer satisfaction by debugging and resolving customer support cases. Your contributions will also include ideas for improving team efficiency, job satisfaction, and code quality. We are looking for someone who is passionate about customer experience and building the right product, and who thrives in an Agile environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with software engineers, Product Managers, and QA engineers to implement creative solutions for complex use case requirements.
  • Drive the implementation of new features in React and/or Xpresso (XO).
  • Support existing products and contribute to debugging and solving customer support cases.
  • Build and maintain robust, efficient, and maintainable code using an object-oriented framework and class modeling.
  • Contribute ideas for improving team efficiency, job satisfaction, and code quality.

Requirements

  • BS+5 or MS+3 years of experience with UML, application development, or SaaS technologies.
  • 2+ years experience with React, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Restful APIs, and related modern front-end libraries.
  • 5+ years experience with object modeling, application design, OO design, and development in an object-oriented language such as Java, Python, C#, C++, or XO.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers in best practices and high-quality code delivery.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with breaking apart complex solutions into simpler iterative, scalable, and performant solutions.
  • Metadata driven definitional development experience.
  • Experience designing/developing business applications, with functional knowledge of Student Information Systems being a plus.
  • Knowledge of Test Driven Development practices.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
