As part of the Workday Student team, you will play a crucial role in improving the work day for Higher Education administrators and faculty, empowering students on their educational journeys. This team is responsible for various aspects of the Student product, including the student recruitment process and providing highly configurable online application capabilities to institutions. In this role, you will join a dedicated team of developers who are proud of delivering high-class customer solutions. You will work closely with software engineers, Product Managers, and QA engineers to implement creative solutions for complex use case requirements from various colleges and universities. Your responsibilities will include driving the implementation of new features using React and/or Xpresso (XO), supporting existing products, and contributing to debugging and solving customer support cases to ensure high customer satisfaction. You will also have the opportunity to contribute ideas for improving the team's efficiency, job satisfaction, and code quality, while building and maintaining robust, efficient, and maintainable code using an object-oriented framework and class modeling. Passion for customer experience and building the right product is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with software engineers, Product Managers, and QA engineers to implement creative solutions for complex use case requirements.
  • Drive the implementation of new features in either React and/or Xpresso (XO).
  • Support existing products and contribute to debugging and solving customer support cases.
  • Contribute ideas for improving the team's efficiency, job satisfaction, and code quality.
  • Build and maintain robust, efficient, and maintainable code using an object-oriented framework and class modeling.

Requirements

  • 2+ years experience with React, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Restful APIs, and related modern front-end libraries.
  • 5+ years experience with object modeling, application design, OO design and development in an object-oriented language such as Java, Python, C#, C++, XO, etc.
  • BS+5 or MS+3 years of experience with UML, application development or SaaS (Software as a Service) technologies.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers in following best practices, delivering high-quality code, and building strong domain knowledge within the team.
  • Experience with breaking apart complex solutions into simpler iterative, scalable, and performant solutions to deliver value incrementally.
  • Experience designing/developing business applications - functional knowledge of Student Information Systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Test Driven Development practices.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum.

Nice-to-haves

  • XO experience is not required but should be willing to learn and build enterprise products.
  • Metadata driven definitional development experience is a plus.
