About the position

The Software Applications Architect position at Nationwide IT Services involves providing expert technical guidance and support for software applications and systems development, particularly for government clients at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The role requires extensive experience in software architecture, systems integration, and compliance with federal standards, as well as the ability to work within Agile frameworks. The architect will be responsible for recommending architectural changes and ensuring the technical environment meets the necessary standards.

Responsibilities

• Act as the highest-level technical expert in software applications and systems development.
• Address problems of systems integration, compatibility, and multiple platforms.
• Perform feasibility analysis on potential future projects.
• Recommend architectural changes for improving the technical environment.
• Ensure compliance with FISMA, Section 508, and HHS Web Standards.
• Conduct routine and event-driven corrective maintenance.

Requirements

• Minimum 15 years of experience in design, writing, and testing of computer programs or database development.
• At least 7 years of experience in software systems architecture.
• Bachelor's degree in any discipline from an accredited university.
• Demonstrated skills in software applications architecture and development.
• Experience as a government contractor professional.
• Knowledge of HHS Agency For Healthcare Research and Quality (AHQR).
• Understanding of Scrum ban Agile wrapped in Enterprise Performance Management Life Cycle (EPLC) governance model.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Atlassian Data Center tools (Confluence, Jira, Bamboo).
• Familiarity with AWS cloud environment and Federal Cloud Computing Strategy - Cloud Smart.
• Knowledge of various application development languages such as Java, .NET, and PHP.
