About the position

The Software Architect - Cloud Security position at Couchbase involves leading the architecture and implementation of security systems for the Capella DBaaS service across major cloud providers. This role is critical in ensuring the security of customer data through secure development practices, authentication, access control, and data encryption. The architect will collaborate with various stakeholders to enhance the security architecture and contribute to the overall security strategy of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement interfaces and systems for user authentication and authorization, secure data management, and network security.
• Spearhead the development of components interfacing with platform-specific IAM and key management services for multi-tenant architecture.
• Conduct security architecture, design, and code reviews for new features and initiatives.
• Drive the implementation of secure architecture best practices and information safeguards in cloud environments.
• Perform threat modeling and risk assessments during the design phases of new components and features.
• Lead secure development lifecycle practices across the engineering team.
• Contribute to security incident detection and response plans and disaster recovery procedures.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in software development.
• At least 5 years of experience in building distributed systems on the cloud.
• At least 3 years of hands-on development experience in Golang.
• In-depth knowledge of Single Sign-On, role-based and attribute-based access control, and data encryption schemes.
• Expertise in AWS, GCP, and Azure offerings and security reference architectures.
• Experience designing and managing large-scale distributed systems with clear security boundaries.
• Strong communication skills to drive consensus with stakeholders.
