About the position

The position is for a Software Architect within the Local Government GIU at Oracle, focusing on the design, delivery, and success of the Oracle Public Safety Suite. The role involves leading the development of full-stack web applications, ensuring high performance and quality, and collaborating closely with engineering and product teams. The architect will also be responsible for defining web services and backend microservices, maintaining code quality, and supporting services in production.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain full stack web applications.
  • Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of the application.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to define specifications for new features and own their development.
  • Define and implement web services and application backend microservices.
  • Guide the team on constraints and best practices in a web platform environment.
  • Proactively identify and solve bottlenecks; fix bugs and performance issues.
  • Maintain code quality, organization, and automation.
  • Ensure testing strategy is followed within the team.
  • Support the services built in production 24/7 with on-call rotations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10+ years of development experience.
  • 5 years of experience with Linux/Unix development (Oracle Linux preferred).
  • Experience with Oracle database, MySQL (MS SQL and/or NoSQL is a plus).
  • Experience with CI/CD (Jenkins and GitLab CI).
  • Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, docker-compose).
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Services).
  • Proficiency in programming and scripting languages (Java, Javascript, Typescript, React/Preact).
  • Experience with C#, Python, Bash, PHP, Groovy, Ansible, and/or Go is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Git version-control and collaboration (GitLab).
  • Experience with issue tracking and collaboration tools (Jira and Confluence).
  • Product/Service ownership or Project Management experience is a plus.
  • ITIL V3, Foundation Level certification preferred.
  • Experience with JavaScript / Typescript (preferred).
  • Familiarity with SPA Frameworks (JET, React, Angular, Vue).
  • Experience with REST Web Services (GraphQL experience is a plus).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with ITIL V3, Foundation Level certification preferred.
  • Product/Service ownership or Project Management experience is a plus.
