About the position

As a Software Architect at Zscaler, you will play a pivotal role in the ongoing innovation and enhancement of our Cloud Firewall and Web Proxy solution. This position is integral to our Core Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) team, where you will be responsible for architecting solutions that prevent complex attacks, intrusions, and data loss by utilizing Zero Trust architecture. You will offer architectural guidance to identify potential threats and assess risk levels across various policies and access controls. Additionally, you will be involved in planning architectural changes to proactively respond to risks and adhere to the latest security standards. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that our solutions remain at the forefront of technology and security. You will collaborate with a team of cloud architects, software engineers, and security experts to enhance our services and expand our global footprint. This role requires a deep understanding of large-scale commercial networking applications and the ability to innovate in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You will be expected to leverage your extensive experience to contribute to the development of our pioneering AI-powered Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange™ platform, which protects thousands of enterprise customers from cyberattacks and data loss. Responsibilities

  • Ongoing innovation and enhancement of the Cloud Firewall and Web Proxy solution.
  • Architecting solutions to prevent complex attacks, intrusions, and data loss utilizing Zero Trust architecture.
  • Offering architectural guidance to identify potential threats and assessing risk levels across policies and access controls.
  • Planning architectural changes to respond proactively to risk and the latest security standards.

Requirements

  • 15+ years software development experience in large-scale commercial networking oriented applications.
  • Experience in Load balancers, IPS/IDS, Routers, or Firewall products in multi-threading / multi-core / fault tolerant real-time embedded platforms.
  • Expert-level programming skills in C and UNIX/Linux/RTOS and expertise in the complete software development cycle.
  • Experience with TCP/IP, High performance Computing, Event-based programming, and Fault Tolerance.
  • BS degree in Engineering or Computer Science.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with FreeBSD-based networking solutions.
  • Knowledge of HTTP and web proxies.
  • Experience in Cloud-based Networking solutions is a plus.
  • Some small company/startup experience.
