About the position

The Software Architect at Milliman, Inc. will play a crucial role in shaping the development and enhancement of IntelliScript's software products. This position involves collaboration with the development team to make architectural decisions, improve system performance, and establish standards for new development. The role is integral to the success of the Information Technology department and requires a blend of software development expertise and strategic thinking.

Responsibilities

  • Develop prototypes to evaluate new technologies and architectural approaches.
  • Assess and improve system architecture and performance.
  • Participate in design processes and code reviews.
  • Help design standardizations and structure for current and future development projects.
  • Serve as a technical resource for the development team.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in software architecture and development.
  • Strong experience with AWS and/or Azure best practices.
  • Experience with domain-driven design and microservice architecture.
  • Experience with event-driven architecture.
  • Proficient in .NET, C#, SQL, API, and service development.
  • Strong experience with React, HTML, CSS, and related web UI frameworks.
  • Understanding of Agile practices (e.g., Scrum).

Nice-to-haves

  • Continued education and/or advanced degree(s).
  • Experience with Java.
  • Understanding of DevOps principles.
  • Experience with EHR or healthcare-related software.
  • Experience with healthcare technologies like FHIR.
  • Experience in environments subject to HIPAA and/or PCI regulations.
  • Experience in software-as-a-service, actuarial science, and/or insurance underwriting industry.
  • Cloud certification (AWS, Azure).
