About the position

The Enterprise Architect role at Staples focuses on leading the transformation of legacy applications to a cloud-native architecture, emphasizing business and infrastructure modernization strategies. This position is integral to redefining customer experience and delivering innovative products and services. The architect will collaborate with business partners and development teams to implement a Cloud First strategy, ensuring scalable and cost-effective solutions that enhance business agility.

Responsibilities

  • Join the Enterprise Architecture team as an End-to-End Enterprise Architect focusing on Business and Infrastructure Modernization Strategy.
  • Drive the standards, reference architecture, and reference implementations across the organization.
  • Build relationships with Business partners, Senior Product Managers, and Development teams to drive end-to-end architecture.
  • Apply Cloud First Strategy and principles to modernize applications to Cloud Native, Microservice-based API, and Event Driven Architecture.
  • Identify technology complexities and gaps to develop scorecards and recommendations for simplifying the technology landscape.
  • Define target state architecture and develop phased roadmaps that deliver critical capabilities and business value.
  • Lead Architecture Governance function and strengthen the Federated EA model with a community of Architects.
  • Provide architecture oversight of application and technology projects and programs.
  • Motivate, coach, and mentor other architects.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
  • 12 years of Enterprise, Technical, and Solution Architecture experience with a strong focus on Data and distributed systems.
  • 7+ years of experience driving end-to-end Architecture with a focus on Business and Infrastructure Strategy.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with Infrastructure Architecture and Development.
  • Strong understanding of Architectural Frameworks like TOGAF and ability to adapt to new paradigms in hybrid cloud.
  • Experience modeling Motivation, Capability, Business, and Technology architecture.
  • Proven ability to work on large transformational projects and unify disparate technical teams around a shared architectural vision.
  • Strong knowledge of modern cloud deployment patterns and architecture, particularly on Azure.

Nice-to-haves

  • Masters in computer science or other Engineering disciplines.
  • Strong Azure Cloud Experience.
