About the position

The Software Asset Management Specialist is responsible for the daily and long-term management of software within the customer environment. This role involves planning, monitoring, recording, and tracking software licenses to ensure compliance with license agreements and usage standards. The position operates on a hybrid schedule, with three days onsite and two days remote.

Responsibilities

• Entering and maintaining software assets information in the approved database of record.
• Processing end users request through ServiceNow tickets.
• Managing software utilization.
• Identifying cost savings opportunities for renewals, software licensing, and services.
• Providing recommendations for process improvements.
• Reviewing software normalization.
• Reviewing/updating discovery mapping to existing software models/versions.
• Managing/maintaining non-standard and new software requests.
• Checking license availability for active software models.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in IT software management.
• Comprehensive knowledge of software asset life cycle management processes including planning, deployment, monitoring, and disposal.
• Working knowledge of the ServiceNow Software Asset Management module.
• Experience creating software models, entering software entitlements and contracts, and linking them.
• Ability to review software normalization and perform detailed analysis of license utilization and opportunities for cost savings.
• Effective verbal and electronic communication skills.
• Detail-oriented to ensure accuracy of asset assignments, inventories, and reporting.
• Positive and patient customer service attitude.
• CSAM: Certified Software Asset Manager within 6-months of start.
• Ability to obtain agency suitability clearance prior to start.
