The Software Asset Manager is responsible for managing the life cycle of Software Assets, which includes licenses, subscriptions, certificates, and domains. This role is crucial in ensuring that tracking processes for asset entitlements and usage are accurate, thereby ensuring compliance, optimizing use, and minimizing risk. The Software Asset Manager will collaborate with Business and IS Solutions owners, as well as vendors, to provide an accurate understanding of key asset information. This position requires a proactive approach to managing software assets, ensuring that all software usage aligns with licensing agreements and organizational policies. The Software Asset Manager will also be tasked with developing and implementing strategies for effective software asset management, including the establishment of best practices and processes to enhance the efficiency of software usage across the organization. In addition to managing software assets, the Software Asset Manager will be responsible for conducting regular audits to ensure compliance with licensing agreements and to identify any potential risks associated with software usage. This includes maintaining accurate records of software licenses and subscriptions, monitoring usage patterns, and providing reports to management on the status of software assets. The role also involves working closely with IT teams to ensure that software installations and configurations are compliant with organizational standards and licensing agreements. The Software Asset Manager will play a key role in negotiating software contracts and renewals, ensuring that the organization receives the best value for its software investments. Furthermore, this position requires strong communication skills to effectively liaise with various stakeholders, including vendors, IT staff, and business leaders, to ensure that software asset management practices align with organizational goals and objectives.
