About the position

The Software Asset Manager is responsible for managing the life cycle of Software Assets, which includes licenses, subscriptions, certificates, and domains. This role is crucial in ensuring that tracking processes for asset entitlements and usage are accurate, thereby ensuring compliance, optimizing use, and minimizing risk. The Software Asset Manager will collaborate with Business and IS Solutions owners, as well as vendors, to provide an accurate understanding of key asset information. This position requires a proactive approach to managing software assets, ensuring that all software usage aligns with licensing agreements and organizational policies. The Software Asset Manager will also be tasked with developing and implementing strategies for effective software asset management, including the establishment of best practices and processes to enhance the efficiency of software usage across the organization. In addition to managing software assets, the Software Asset Manager will be responsible for conducting regular audits to ensure compliance with licensing agreements and to identify any potential risks associated with software usage. This includes maintaining accurate records of software licenses and subscriptions, monitoring usage patterns, and providing reports to management on the status of software assets. The role also involves working closely with IT teams to ensure that software installations and configurations are compliant with organizational standards and licensing agreements. The Software Asset Manager will play a key role in negotiating software contracts and renewals, ensuring that the organization receives the best value for its software investments. Furthermore, this position requires strong communication skills to effectively liaise with various stakeholders, including vendors, IT staff, and business leaders, to ensure that software asset management practices align with organizational goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the life cycle of software assets, including licenses, subscriptions, certificates, and domains.
  • Ensure tracking processes for asset entitlements and usage are accurate to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with Business and IS Solutions owners and vendors to provide accurate asset information.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with licensing agreements.
  • Maintain accurate records of software licenses and subscriptions.
  • Monitor usage patterns and provide reports to management on the status of software assets.
  • Work closely with IT teams to ensure software installations and configurations are compliant with standards.
  • Negotiate software contracts and renewals to ensure best value for the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Health Care, or a technical field, or an Associates degree in Business or Health Care field with four years of experience in a technical field, or a high school diploma with eight years of experience in a technical field.
  • Five years of experience in Software Asset Management or seven years of experience supporting IT applications in IT disciplines such as systems administration, project management, and application implementation/administration.
  • Strong communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience with tools used in software asset and configuration management, such as Microsoft's Configuration Manager or Intune tools and Service Now's Asset Management.
  • Strong investigative skills to address software allowed use, licensing, and key contract criteria.
  • Knowledge of common licensing terminology and application of license rights.
