About the position

The Software Asset Manager at NTT DATA plays a crucial role in assisting customers with understanding their software license allocations and how these relate to their installed software. This position is integral to ensuring that customers receive timely responses and assistance, adhering to best practices in Software Asset Management (SAM). The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, high-energy individual who is a self-starter, possessing at least moderate experience in SAM or as a hardware asset manager willing to obtain certification and expand their knowledge. In this role, the Software Asset Manager will monitor the processing of software renewals to ensure that no deadlines are missed. They will support the asset management program, processes, and daily operations, collaborating with teammates to update and seek approval for all Software Asset Management Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and job aids. The manager will also be involved in software asset audits and remediation activities, ensuring that new license entitlements are accurately updated in the asset management system and that license metrics reflect product use rights and contractual guidelines. Additionally, the Software Asset Manager will handle processes related to software whitelists and blacklists, including managing non-standard software requests and the identification and removal of unauthorized software. They will perform data analysis to support license reclamation and reallocation efforts aimed at optimizing costs and reducing software overspend. The role also involves processing software requests from employees through the organization's approval process and configuring various license types and calculations, including PVUS, CALS, cloud, subscription, perpetual, user, and concurrent licenses.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor processing of software renewals to ensure nothing is late.
  • Support asset management program, processes, and daily operations.
  • Assist teammates with updating and seeking approval for all Software Asset Management SOPs and Job Aids.
  • Support software asset audit and remediation activities, software true-ups, renewals, etc.
  • Ensure that new license entitlements are appropriately updated in the asset management system and license metrics are accurately reflected against product use rights and contractual guidelines.
  • Support processes associated with software whitelists and blacklists, including handling of non-standard software requests and identification and removal of unauthorized software.
  • Perform data analysis in support of license reclamation and reallocation efforts to optimize costs and reduce software overspend.
  • Process software requests from employees through the organization's approval process.
  • Configure license types and license counter calculations (PVUS, CALS, cloud, subscription, perpetual, user, concurrent, etc.).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Asset Management (software, hardware, or cloud).
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Software Asset Management.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with any ITSM platform, specifically with managing assets.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with software licensing and entitlements for large software vendors, such as IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, Adobe, etc.
  • Secret Security Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • IT Asset Management certifications such as Certified IT Asset Manager (CITAM), Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM).
  • Experience with supporting and responding to software audits.
  • Experience with ServiceNow ITSM platform, specifically with Asset Management (AMDB) & Configuration Management Databases (AMDB & CMDB).
  • ITIL v3 or ITIL 4 Foundation certification.
