About the position

The Software Budget Analyst at Northrop Grumman plays a crucial role in managing and overseeing the financial aspects of software assets and IT inventory. This position involves collaborating with executives and project managers to develop and monitor budgets, ensuring compliance with financial objectives, and providing detailed reports on inventory status and usage. The analyst will also be responsible for optimizing software license usage and maintaining accurate inventory records, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the organization's financial management processes.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with executives and project managers to develop budgets.
  • Evaluates and approves or rejects budget proposals and funding requests.
  • Defends budget recommendations and develops a final budgetary agreement with management.
  • Monitors spending to ensure it remains within budget.
  • Estimates and forecasts future financial needs and supports programs with financial analytics.
  • Monitors and reports performance against plans to ensure that contractual, cost, and schedule objectives are met.
  • Prepares estimates to complete (ETC) and spend plans, audits subcontractor invoices, and provides briefings and related documentation and reports for financial assessments.
  • Forecasts and tracks financial results throughout the year to meet budget projections.
  • Organizes budget templates and data in a clear and intuitive manner.
  • Identifies financial or operating risks associated with the execution of the contract or project.
  • Provides project summary status reports to management as required or requested.
  • Manages and oversees the CIO's IT inventory (software assets).
  • Develops and implements inventory control procedures and policies.
  • Conducts regular audits to ensure accuracy and completeness of inventory records.
  • Coordinates with various departments to track and manage software assets throughout their lifecycle.
  • Maintains an up-to-date inventory database and ensures data integrity.
  • Provides detailed reports on inventory status, usage, and trends to management.
  • Identifies and resolves discrepancies in inventory records.
  • Collaborates with the procurement team to manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts.
  • Implements and maintains inventory management software and tools.
  • Manages inventory-related documentation and records.
  • Optimizes software usage license compliance to minimize costs.
  • Maintains databases and records of information such as licenses, service agreements, and warranties.
  • Builds and manages complex licensing models and optimizes license usage based on key license drivers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5 years of related experience (Level 3) or 9 years of related experience (Level 4).
  • Experience in IT inventory management or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management principles and best practices.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and tools.
  • Knowledge of IT hardware and software assets.
  • Experience with vendor management and contract negotiation.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting for IT inventory needs.
  • US citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level clearance.
