About the position

The Software Data Science & Analytics Engineer plays a crucial role within the Integrated Business Planning organization at Dematic. This position focuses on data aggregation and analysis to support critical decision-making regarding project sourcing globally. The engineer will collaborate with the central data science team to translate and aggregate data, creating dashboards and reports that enhance visibility and efficiency across various functions within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze project backlog and sales pipeline to convert data into actionable insights.
  • Engage with Dematic functions to build a data warehouse and analyze capacity constraints and demand needs.
  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, and data analytics strategies to optimize efficiency and quality.
  • Produce dashboards and charts summarizing project execution metrics and business decision variables.
  • Interpret data trends and analyze results using statistical techniques, providing ongoing reports and analysis.
  • Identify data cleansing opportunities and suggest improvements for data accuracy and collection.
  • Understand project department practices and serve as an advisor to team members.
  • Perform capacity and demand analysis to develop scenarios for project execution.
  • Conduct periodic status checks to assess progress against plans.
  • Collect data that accurately represents project requirements.
  • Stay updated on current and future operating strategies and technologies through conferences and seminars.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in Software Engineering, Data Science, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics.
  • Experience with BI tools such as Power BI.
  • Knowledge of SQL, VBA, Python, Alteryx, and Snowflake.
  • Technical expertise in data models, database design, data mining, and segmentation techniques.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and underlying data sources, particularly SAP.
  • Proven problem-solving skills.
  • High proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to present data findings clearly and understandably.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and business processes for continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge or experience with Agile techniques.
