About the position

The Software & Database Developer II position at LECOM is responsible for monitoring and verifying the flow of information from various external sources to the final data repository. This role involves addressing data-related inquiries, coordinating reports using the Jenzabar SQL database, and developing and maintaining internal portal pages and web-based applications for faculty, staff, and students. The position emphasizes data integrity, application maintenance, and training of interns and department members.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and verify the flow of information from external sources to the data repository.
  • Field data-related questions and issues, collating and resolving inquiries.
  • Coordinate Ad Hoc and standard reports using the Jenzabar SQL database.
  • Design, develop, and maintain LECOM internal portal pages.
  • Implement and maintain web-based applications for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor.
  • Review data input, updates, and usage for database tables.
  • Maintain a log of issues encountered and their resolutions.
  • Develop and maintain reporting and reconciliation processes for key data monitoring.
  • Evaluate and develop edit checks to ensure consistent data in the system.
  • Utilize SQL queries and reporting tools to ensure data integrity.
  • Update and maintain LECOM portal pages and applications.
  • Develop and deploy new portal applications.
  • Create programs or scripts for data validation and importing.
  • Create applications for interactive data handling and reporting.
  • Maintain applications and troubleshoot problems using analytical skills.
  • Train interns and department members on internal practices and programming principles.
  • Write requirements and design documents for new portal applications.
  • Contribute to overall student success and LECOM's mission.
  • Participate in community outreach and institutional fundraising activities.

Requirements

  • Excellent writing, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions.
  • Familiarity with SQL database design, development, and maintenance.
  • Experience maintaining applications in PHP, ASP (C#), HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and SQL.
  • Ability to develop new web-based applications for SIS data management.
  • Experience gathering business requirements for process automation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot using self-created test cases and train users on applications.
  • Understanding of computer science fundamentals, algorithms, and data structures.
  • Knowledge of ASP.NET client-server architecture.
  • Programming experience within the .NET Framework, including C# and SQL.
  • Experience with multiple IDEs like Microsoft Access and SQL Server Management Studio.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and accurate data entry skills.
