About the position

Lynk is seeking an experienced Software Defined Radio (SDR) Engineer to develop and optimize SDR-based receivers and signal processors for cellular-based space payloads. The role involves designing, developing, and testing SDR software, including FPGA and host interfaces, to enhance radio performance for both primary and secondary radio functions. The engineer will work in a fast-paced environment, contributing to the development of technology that connects billions of people globally.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test all SDR software including FPGA and host interface.
  • Evaluate SDRs for incorporation into payload and spacecraft systems.
  • Understand hardware-based requirements of SDRs, including FPGA size, speed, and I/O interfaces.
  • Design and evaluate DSP algorithms for satellite communication systems.
  • Update or create host interface software to interact with SDRs.
  • Develop test software and drivers for unit, integration, and system testing of SDR functions.
  • Write software in C, C++, or other languages in a Linux environment.
  • Benchmark payload software applications with other software team members.
  • Test and validate hardware blocks in simulation and on target.
  • Develop and maintain documentation and ICDs for in-house IP blocks and SDR-related software.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree (or better) in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
  • Excellent foundation in DSP and Communication Theory.
  • At least three years of recent experience working with SDRs.
  • In-depth knowledge of digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms and communication theory.
  • Experience with implementing DSP algorithms in C/C++.
  • Experience with device drivers.
  • Ability to create testbenches for benchmarking and testing.
  • Knowledge in PHY and MAC layers of cellular standards (e.g., GSM, LTE, 5G) is a plus.
  • Experience using lab equipment for testing and validation.
  • Experience with evaluating SDR platforms and specifications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with implementing DSP algorithms in FPGAs is a plus, but optional.
