About the position

The Software Development Engineer in AI/ML will be part of the Infrastructure and Operations team within the Fleet Mobility AI program at Amazon Robotics. This role focuses on operationalizing advanced Foundation Models to enhance the capabilities of Amazon's extensive fleet of mobile robots. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to develop and maintain platforms for deploying machine learning models, build self-service tools, and mentor junior engineers, all while contributing to a key strategic AI initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain key platforms for Foundation Models and ML Models for mobile robot applications.
  • Investigate design approaches and prototype new technology with team members.
  • Develop self-service tools for building applications on top of Foundation Models.
  • Collaborate with Applied Scientists and Data Engineers to process large datasets and optimize machine learning models.
  • Design and code solutions for broadly defined problems.
  • Provide tooling and infrastructure to support cutting-edge research in AI and Foundation Models.
  • Mentor other engineers and positively influence team culture.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of design or architecture experience for new and existing systems.
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
  • AI/ML experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • Experience in machine learning, data mining, information retrieval, statistics, or natural language processing.
  • Experience with AWS technologies.
  • Experience in high-performance computing and scaling distributed systems.
