About the position

The Software Development Engineer II in Lab Infrastructure at AWS is responsible for developing and maintaining services that automate business processes within AWS Hardware Engineering. This role involves collaborating with a diverse team to enhance operational efficiency and deliver high-quality software solutions using AWS technologies. The engineer will take ownership of features from frontend to backend, ensuring that tools are accessible, usable, and scalable to support AWS's massive services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain services that automate business processes within AWS Hardware Engineering.
  • Own features end to end, including frontend, backend, database, and automated testing.
  • Recommend product improvements based on user experience and operational metrics.
  • Collaborate with engineers, TPMs, and PMs across the organization to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
  • Identify business problems and build services to solve complex customer use cases using AWS technologies.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems.
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, and testing.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • Experience building complex software systems successfully delivered to customers.
  • Fundamental understanding of network services such as DHCP, TFTP, HTTP, and DNS.
  • Experience in monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving system and software components issues.
  • Experience deploying and operating Linux, and understanding operating system fundamentals.
