About the position

The Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) team is seeking innovative programmers to develop high-performance code for cloud computing solutions. This role focuses on implementing optimized data structures and low-level hardware tuning to achieve ultra-high performance in processing millions of packets per second. Candidates will engage in systems software engineering, particularly in kernel or embedded development, contributing to the design and delivery of new services and operational improvements.

Responsibilities

• Innovating and delivering creative software designs to develop new services and solve operational problems.
• Writing requirements capturing documents, design documents, integration test plans, and deployment plans.
• Communicating status and progress of deliverables to schedule, and sharing learnings/innovations with the team and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in, or completed a Bachelor's degree program or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related fields.
• Programming experience in internship or coursework in C or C++.
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals, virtualization, Linux Operating Systems, and distributed systems/system development.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with distributed, multi-tiered systems, algorithms, and relational databases.
• Strong interests and academic qualifications/research focus in system programming with C, Linux Systems Internals, computer architecture, Network Programming, and/or Packet Processing.
