About the position

The Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) team is seeking skilled programmers to innovate and deliver high-performance software solutions in cloud computing. This role focuses on developing scalable and reliable services, optimizing data structures, and tuning low-level hardware for ultra-high performance. Candidates will engage in systems software engineering, particularly in kernel or embedded development, to enhance operational efficiency and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Innovating and delivering creative software designs to develop new services and solve operational problems.
  • Writing requirements capturing documents, design documents, integration test plans, and deployment plans.
  • Communicating status and progress of deliverables to schedule, and sharing learnings/innovations with the team and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in, or completed a Bachelor's degree program or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related fields.
  • Programming experience in internship or coursework in C or C++.
  • Experience in at least two of the following areas: Networking fundamentals, Virtualization, Linux Operating Systems, Distributed Systems/System Development, Knowledge of TCP/IP.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with distributed, multi-tiered systems, algorithms, and relational databases.
  • Strong interests and academic qualifications/research focus in system programming with C, Linux Systems Internals, computer architecture, Network Programming, and/or Packet Processing.
