About the position

The Personal Information Domain team is looking for a Software Development Manager III (SDM III) to lead engineering teams in delivering full-stack enterprise solutions using cloud technologies. This role focuses on managing both front-end customer experiences and back-end services that facilitate Personal Information management, new hire pre-boarding, identity and access, and HR service delivery across Amazon globally. The SDM III will drive the development of intuitive solutions that enhance the Joining Amazon process, empowering employees through self-service products and ensuring effective HR service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with leaders, Product Managers, SDMs, TPMs, and engineering teams to build software products for HR service delivery.
  • Manage a team of engineers, providing structure and organization to enable results delivery.
  • Focus on clearly defined roadmaps and prioritize against multiple demands using strong judgement and negotiation skills.
  • Drive continuous improvement and high standards in engineering and operational excellence within the team.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers to measure and demonstrate the effectiveness of solutions, reporting business value and impact with defined metrics.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of engineering team management experience.
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams.
  • Experience delivering products against plan in a fast-paced, multi-disciplined environment.
  • 5+ years of working directly within engineering teams.
  • 3+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems.
  • Experience with a range of technologies from front-end user interfaces to back-end systems.
  • Knowledge of engineering practices for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience communicating with users and senior leadership to collect requirements and describe product features.
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and managing Software Engineers.
  • 3+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services.
