About the position

Facebook is seeking a Software Developer, Analytics Solutions to join the Data Center Data Science Team. This team is responsible for data engineering, business intelligence, advanced analytics, and analytics solution engineering for the entire Infrastructure Data Center organization. The role encompasses both backend and frontend development, utilizing the latest technologies and frameworks such as Python, PHP, JavaScript, React JS, and GraphQL. A background in applied analytics and machine learning is advantageous, as the position involves building analytical solutions that empower Facebook's world-class data centers to operate autonomously and efficiently, serving over 2.8 billion users globally. In this role, you will help plan, design, build, and operate our data centers by automating analytical software solutions that leverage large volumes of mission-critical data. Your work will involve analyzing trends, surfacing anomalies, optimizing complex logistics and operations, and enabling real-time operations using cutting-edge big data technologies and programming languages. You will develop and implement productivity software solutions based on data analytics, enhancing the efficiency of our data center pre-operations and operations teams in their planning, designing, building, and operational tasks. Collaboration is key in this position; you will partner with data scientists to deploy analytics, machine learning, and optimization models in production environments, integrating them with the IDC operations. Additionally, you will work closely with operational and engineering teams to implement, verify, and iterate on the analytical solutions being developed, ultimately helping to scale and optimize our overall data center capacity through innovative tools that improve efficiency and automation.

Responsibilities

  • Help plan, design, build and operate data centers through automation of analytical software solutions.
  • Utilize large volumes of mission-critical data to analyze trends, surface anomalies, and optimize complex logistics and operations.
  • Enable real-time operations using the latest big data technologies, programming languages, frameworks, and open-source libraries.
  • Develop and implement productivity software solutions based on data analytics for data center pre-ops and operations teams.
  • Partner with data scientists to deploy analytics, machine learning, and optimization models in production environments.
  • Integrate analytics solutions with IDC operations to improve efficiency.
  • Scale and optimize overall data center capacity by developing cutting-edge tools that enhance automation.
  • Collaborate with operational and engineering teams to implement, verify, and iterate on analytical solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in coding and scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, PHP, C++, or Java, including API integration.
  • 8+ years of experience working with relational databases.
  • 8+ years of experience with object-oriented software development.
  • SQL experience in handling large volumes of data and performance tuning.
  • Experience in system design, including data modeling and complexity considerations.
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into software requirements and explain systems design.
  • Experience working effectively with cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other related engineering fields.
  • Experience with React (React.JS or React Native).
  • Experience with HDFS and Hive.
