About the position

As an API Developer at Spokeo, you will play a crucial role in a cross-functional team focused on building software in an agile environment. Your primary responsibilities will include writing clean and efficient code for backend data service RESTful APIs, supporting data access needs, collaborating with various teams, and maintaining API documentation. This position offers the opportunity to work on critical issues in big data, e-commerce services, and information security, contributing to the company's mission of advancing transparency through data.

Responsibilities

• Write clean and performant code for backend data service RESTful APIs to ensure data flows from 3rd party vendors.
• Support data access needs for multiple databases to support critical infrastructure.
• Collaborate with product owners, QA, and DevOps across Scrum teams to deliver #Data4Good to users.
• Create and maintain API usage documentation and flow diagrams.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar field.
• A strong background in search-related products or features using OpenSearch, ElasticSearch, Lucene, or Solr.
• 4+ years of development experience in web applications and/or backend APIs.
• 2+ years using SQL and NoSQL technologies.
• Experience implementing and troubleshooting high-usage, high-throughput systems.
• Experience optimizing application performance and database queries.
• Experience developing with cloud services, preferably AWS.

Nice-to-haves

• A good understanding of data integration and ETL processes, with experience working with APIs and data ingestion.
• Familiarity with big data processing frameworks and related technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, Airflow, and Data Lakes.
• 2+ years of development experience with Ruby on Rails, Javascript, or Node.js.
