About the position

The Software Developer/Electrical Engineering Lab Manager at the University of Detroit Mercy is responsible for the research and development of new software systems and network infrastructures. This role involves programming, modifying software programs, and maintaining computer laboratories for the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. The position also includes embedded systems design, configuration, debugging, and the maintenance of both analog and digital systems. Additionally, the role requires performing computer systems analysis and preparing documentation for new systems and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Research and explore the creation of new software systems and network infrastructures.
  • Program and modify software programs as needed.
  • Develop and maintain computer laboratories for the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department.
  • Design, configure, debug, and maintain embedded systems and supporting equipment.
  • Perform computer systems analysis, including roles for systems and IT needs.
  • Prepare written documentation, including recommendations on new systems and equipment, and write instruction manuals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Communication Engineering, or foreign educational equivalent.
  • Three months of experience in the position offered or in a similar position, such as Machine Learning Research Assistant.
  • Experience utilizing advanced analytical software to analyze data sets.
  • Experience studying new technologies to support machine learning applications.
  • Experience operating computer clusters and/or cloud computing resources.
