About the position

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a SOFTWARE DEVELOPER-ENT to perform maintenance on existing software products for ACS customers. The role involves assisting in coding, testing, and debugging new software or making enhancements to existing software for third-party customers. Responsibilities include writing programs according to specifications from higher-level staff or business analysts, making suggestions for problem solutions or software enhancements, and assisting in the development of user manuals. The position requires collaboration with technical staff to learn and understand problems with software. Additionally, the position will commit to fostering an environment of heightened security by following Information Technology Security Policies and participating in security training, such as Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), on an annual basis.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance on existing software products for ACS customers.
  • Assist in coding, testing, and debugging new software or enhancements to existing software.
  • Write programs according to specifications from higher-level staff or business analysts.
  • Make suggestions for problem solutions or software enhancements.
  • Assist in the development of user manuals.
  • Work with technical staff to learn and understand problems with software.
  • Commit to fostering an environment of heightened security following IT Security Policies.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Information Systems or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of related experience required (work experience may substitute for education requirement).

Nice-to-haves

  • Two (2) to four (4) years of application development and maintenance support experience.
  • Experience in programming with C# language .NET web application development.
  • Experience in writing SQL queries.
  • Experience in JavaScript Programming Language.
  • Familiarity with source control systems (Git, DevOps, etc.).
