About the position

COMSOL, Inc. is seeking a software developer in its Burlington, MA office with a strong background in full wave, high-frequency computational electromagnetics, particularly in RF and Wave Optics. The primary responsibility of this position is to enhance the capabilities of the RF Module and Wave Optics Module, which are add-on products to COMSOL Multiphysics®. In this role, you will be tasked with identifying and creating new key features for our modeling toolset. This involves working through the entire development process, including specification, implementation in Java, testing, documentation, and creating new example models that are relevant for industrial applications. As a software developer, you will collaborate with a highly creative and qualified team that possesses a diversity of experience. You will have the opportunity to expand your knowledge across a wide variety of physics application areas and tackle problems that span multiple engineering fields. Responsibilities

  • Enhance the capabilities of the RF Module and Wave Optics Module.
  • Identify and create new key features for the modeling toolset.
  • Work on specification, implementation in Java, testing, and documentation.
  • Create new example models relevant for industrial applications.

Requirements

  • MS degree or higher in electrical engineering, physics, or applied mathematics.
  • Solid experience in designing and tailoring numerical methods for full wave electromagnetics.
  • Genuine interest in mathematical modeling and computational physics.
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with time domain methods.
  • Experience with integral equation methods.
  • Familiarity with COMSOL Multiphysics®.
  • Experience with user interface design.
