About the position

The Software Developer I position at HJF involves supporting the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command's Biotechnology High Performance Computing Software Applications Institute. The role focuses on creating and maintaining software solutions that aid life science research, with an emphasis on full stack development, web and mobile applications, and scientific coding for parallel processing. The developer will collaborate with scientists and other developers to enhance computational solutions for military medical products.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build web and mobile applications for Android platforms.
  • Collaborate with scientists and fellow software developers to define, design and implement new features.
  • Keep updated with the latest web, cloud and mobile app development technologies.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or a related discipline required; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 0-2 years experience required.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following areas: Android/iOS applications, web-based applications using Java Platform, and graphical user interfaces.
  • Expertise in one or more programming languages: Java, Kotlin, Python, Dart, C, or C++.
  • Experience using a source code version control system, such as Git.
  • Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/NACI Investigation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working independently on all stages of software development life cycle (SDLC).
  • Good understanding of security best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of the following frameworks/libraries: Spring, Flutter, Pandas, TensorFlow, PyTorch.
  • Understanding of relational database concepts and SQL.
  • Prior experience in parallel computing and using HPC clusters.
  • Knowledge of Windows and Linux systems.
