About the position

The Software Developer II role at Lumen involves partnering in a team environment to design, develop, code, test, and debug new software or significant enhancements to existing software of moderate complexity. The position requires collaboration with team members and stakeholders to deliver effective software solutions while adhering to agile methodologies and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develops reports and queries from multiple data warehouse database sources to assist requesting clients in decision making.
  • Analyzes programming requests for the purpose of assisting integration with current applications.
  • Assists in grooming the solution along with the engineering manager and team members based on the requirements.
  • Develops code as per the requirements during sprints, performs local testing, and reviews the code with team members.
  • Participates in all scrum ceremonies and ensures the agile process is practiced leading to a successful outcome.
  • Collaborates and helps other team members resolve their issues/impediments.
  • Enhances the application by identifying opportunities for improvement, making recommendations, and designing and implementing fixes.
  • Follows robust DevOps practices and uses CI/CD practices deploying the application.
  • Designs, develops, tests, implements, and maintains applications software.
  • Adapts to new technologies, particularly those providing reporting capabilities.
  • Participates in walk-through of designs and programs providing appropriate feedback to ensure the technical quality of an application and provides solutions to design and program issues.
  • Develops understanding of business processes, products, and metrics to better communicate and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Adheres to all development processes to ensure appropriate flow of work with onsite, remote, offshore, and contract resources.
  • Provides on-call support.

Requirements

  • Experience of application development using Java Microservices and Spring Boot framework
  • Experience in developing REST APIs using microservice architecture, GraphQL
  • Experience in developing apps that operate using Confluent Kafka
  • Experience in using RDBMS like Oracle, MySQL, SQL, NOSQL
  • Experience in Azure PostgreSQL
  • Experience in implementing CI/CD, preferably using GitHub/Jenkins
  • Effective collaboration skills with stakeholders and team members
  • 3+ years of experience with a bachelor's degree or 1+ years of experience with a master's degree
