About the position

As a Software Developer II at GDIT, you will play a crucial role in delivering innovative solutions to complex problems faced by federal civilian agencies. Your primary responsibility will be to design, maintain, and implement Government Off The Shelf (GOTS) software tailored to meet specific procedural requirements. This position emphasizes the importance of the end-user experience, ensuring that the software developed not only meets technical specifications but also enhances usability and functionality for government clients. In this role, you will be tasked with developing original software applications based on high-level concepts provided by the government. This includes creating software tools that integrate with third-party utilities and designing large-scale, complex software systems, including web-based query and reporting systems. You will be expected to utilize a variety of programming languages and technologies, such as C#, Python, PowerShell, ASP.NET, SQL, XML, and JavaScript, to meet diverse project requirements. Your ability to identify technical strategies for interconnecting disparate software applications will be essential, as will your skills in producing detailed specifications and design documentation, including process flows, class diagrams, and data models. Your work will also involve ensuring compliance with information security standards and federal regulations, particularly those related to sensitive and classified data. Responsibilities

  • Design, maintain, and implement Government Off The Shelf (GOTS) software based on specific requirements.
  • Develop original software applications from high-level concepts provided by the government.
  • Create software tools that integrate with third-party utilities and systems.
  • Produce specifications and design documentation including process flows, class diagrams, and data models.
  • Identify technical strategies to interconnect disparate software applications.
  • Ensure compliance with information security standards and federal regulations.

Requirements

  • Four (4) year college degree in software development or computer science.
  • 5+ years of related experience in software development.
  • Familiarity with multiple programming languages including C#, Python, PowerShell, ASP.NET, SQL, XML, JavaScript, and Microservices Architecture.
  • Experience in designing and authoring original software applications from vague concepts.
  • Knowledge of Information Security Systems (ISS) and security standards for Sensitive But Unclassified (SBU) and classified data.
  • Ability to create project work estimates and implement solutions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience deploying container-based solutions.
  • Familiarity with HTML, JavaScript, and Microservices Architecture.
