About the position

The Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) position at Honeywell involves ensuring product quality through the design and execution of tests within an Agile team. The role focuses on developing automated tests and troubleshooting issues to meet client needs and business requirements, contributing to innovative solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Execute black-box and white-box test cases with a variety of IoT devices, cloud applications, mobile devices, and on-prem servers
  • Lead test effort on small sustaining projects, and support QA tech lead on large projects
  • Develop automated and unit tests against a variety of components (web, mobile, client) using tools like C#.net, ReadyAPI, SoapUI, Appium, etc.
  • Configure software and hardware for customer demos, field trials, trade shows, etc.
  • Overcome technical roadblocks through creativity and tenacity
  • Continuously learn and stay current with technology and industry best practices
  • Support our customers by troubleshooting issues and verifying fixes to critical sustaining issues
  • Provide reliable estimates of future efforts with clear identification of risks and assumptions
  • Strive to develop the simplest solutions to the most complex problems
  • Manage conflicting demands for time by prioritizing work and clear communication

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (CS or science based degree preferred)
  • 2+ years of professional experience (SDET, QA engineer, or software engineer preferred)
  • Experience with test automation tools such as Selenium, ReadyAPI
  • 2+ years of demonstrated proficiency with at least one high level, object oriented programming language (e.g. C#, Java, Objective-C, Swift, Python, and/or C++)
  • Understanding of internet protocols and interfaces such as HTML, REST APIs, JSON, TCP/IP, HTTP, and XML/SOAP
  • Ability to mine data, parse log files, and present data concisely
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Nice-to-haves

  • 2 + years of demonstrated proficiency with SQL
  • Familiar with agile development methodologies and practices
  • Proven experience working with development environments such as Microsoft Visual Studio, XCode, and/or Eclipse
  • Experience with the full defect life cycle and defect tracking systems
  • Comfortable working in the Windows operating systems, Linux, iOS, Android, and the .NET development environment
  • Knowledge of GitHub, Rally, and Jira
  • Experience working as part of an agile development team
  • Demonstrate your enthusiasm for tinkering, hobby projects, and IoT
