About the position

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a talented Software Developer in Test (SDET) to support a large Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) nationwide program. This role involves designing and implementing test automation strategies, creating automation test plans, and managing test automation resources. The position is virtual and requires collaboration with multiple Scrum teams as surge requirements dictate.

Responsibilities

• Electing or identifying areas/test cases for Automation
• Designing & Implementing Test Automation Strategy
• Creating Automation Test Plan and getting approvals
• Choosing selenium tools and configuring Selenium Test Environment (Ex: Eclipse IDE, Java, Selenium WebDriver and TestNG etc.)
• Creating, organizing, and managing Test Automation Resources
• Designing, developing, and executing automated tests
• Extending existing test automation frameworks and tools
• Integrating with CI/CD tools and pipeline (i.e. Jenkins)
• Triaging, troubleshooting and documenting defects
• Documenting QA procedures for the team
• Working closely with engineering and QA to manage and improve the development pipeline
• Performing and writing automated functional, system, regression, and integration testing

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software/Systems Engineering, or equivalent technical degree
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing to overall company success
• Experience working in an agile environment
• Comprehensive technical expertise on IT products, operating systems, software, hardware, systems and networks
• Experience developing test plans and test procedures
• Experience using at least two (2) automation tools/technologies
• 8+ years Automated Software development and testing experience
• Java, C# or Python development experience
• Flat File Processing, API or Backend testing
• Visual Studio
• T-SQL

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with EDI and financial transaction systems
• Experience testing MUMPS, VistA and other VA systems
