About the position

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a talented Software Developer in Test (SDET) to support a large Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) nationwide program. This role involves designing and implementing test automation strategies, creating automation test plans, and executing automated tests to ensure the quality of software products. The position requires collaboration with multiple Scrum teams and a strong background in automation tools and technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Electing or identifying areas/test cases for Automation
  • Designing & Implementing Test Automation Strategy
  • Creating Automation Test Plan and getting approvals
  • Choosing selenium tools and configuring Selenium Test Environment (Ex: Eclipse IDE, Java, Selenium WebDriver and TestNG etc.)
  • Creating, organizing, and managing Test Automation Resources
  • Designing, developing, and executing automated tests
  • Extending existing test automation frameworks and tools
  • Integrating with CI/CD tools and pipeline (i.e. Jenkins)
  • Triage, troubleshoot and document defects
  • Documenting QA procedures for the team
  • Working closely with engineering and QA to manage and improve the development pipeline
  • Performing and writing automated functional, system, regression, and integration testing

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software/Systems Engineering, or equivalent technical degree
  • 8+ years Automated Software development and testing experience
  • Experience using at least two (2) automation tools/technologies
  • Java, C# or Python development experience
  • Experience developing test plans and test procedures
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing to overall company success
  • Must have experience working in an agile environment
  • Comprehensive technical expertise on IT products, operating systems, software, hardware, systems and networks

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with EDI and financial transaction systems
  • Experience testing MUMPS, VistA and other VA systems
