About the position

The BAE Systems GXP Software Team is seeking highly motivated engineering students to join as interns. This role focuses on developing innovative solutions for processing and analyzing sophisticated remote sensor data, including imagery and video. Interns will work closely with experienced mentors, gaining hands-on experience in software development while contributing to state-of-the-art applications in video analytics, image processing, and data visualization. The position offers a flexible work environment that balances professional growth with personal life.

Responsibilities

  • Implementing new features in web-based, cloud, and server-based products.
  • Investigating new technologies and open-source software for inclusion into products.
  • Designing new enhancements to software.
  • Working with a mentor to learn about software principles and technical development.
  • Development in Python, C++, Java, and/or JavaScript.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in an accredited engineering/technical undergraduate or graduate degree program pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mathematics.
  • Basic understanding of and skills in software design and coding, including object-oriented analysis & design.
  • Exposure to at least one of Python, C++, Java, or JavaScript.

Nice-to-haves

  • Coursework in Algorithms, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Architecture, Computer Graphics, Computer Networking, Data Science, Database Systems, Machine Learning, Operating Systems, UI/UX Design, or Cloud technologies.
  • Familiarity with software development/engineering processes, including requirements analysis, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and problem diagnosis/resolution.
  • Experience with IDEs such as Visual Studio, PyCharm, or NetBeans.
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as git.
  • Experience with build systems such as cmake, Maven, or Ant.
  • Experience with image processing, data science, or machine learning.
