About the position

The Software Developer Intern position at ManTech is designed for motivated individuals pursuing a STEM-related degree. The intern will work 20 hours per week with a flexible schedule, primarily in a virtual environment, while occasionally attending meetings at the Herndon, VA office. This role focuses on developing software skills through hands-on technical work, collaboration with experienced professionals, and contributing to real projects that support the company's contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate software development skills learned in and out of school within ManTech.
  • Participate in hands-on technical work to grow software development capabilities.
  • Work on guided projects that can directly flow back to real contracts.
  • Collaborate with Principal Investigators to support software development and cloud work through research, data collection/analysis, programming, and engineering.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen with an active US Security Clearance or eligible to obtain one.
  • Currently pursuing a STEM-related degree such as Computer Science, Mathematics, or Systems Engineering with a graduation date no later than June 2026.
  • Course projects related to requirement definition and problem solving.
  • Experience collaborating in a team setting.
  • Experience with object-oriented programming languages (Python, JavaScript, C, C#).
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks (React.js, Next.js, Node.js).

Nice-to-haves

  • Comfortable with using project management tools such as JIRA and Confluence; experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Experience with SQL, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), Git, Gitlab, and Git processes (Push, Pull, Commit).
  • Familiarity with Django and API Services (GraphQL/Graphene).
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure) and developer tools such as Visual Studio Code.
  • Strong command line skills in Linux and Unix systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
