About the position

The Software Developer Lead is a seasoned IT professional responsible for overseeing complex software development projects within the Cook Children's Health Care System. This role requires advanced proficiency in software development, with a strong emphasis on understanding and breaking down software requirements into manageable tasks. The Software Developer Lead will collaborate with various professionals to determine both functional and non-functional requirements for new software or extensive revisions, serving as the technical expert for the team in software development, deployment, and maintenance. In this position, the Software Developer Lead will create high-level software specifications and address issues related to systems integration and compatibility, utilizing the latest technology. A solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and Object-Oriented Design (OOD) is essential, including concepts such as inheritance, interfaces, polymorphism, and information protection. The ideal candidate will be a specialist in complex software development, capable of working independently without supervision, and will possess a comprehensive knowledge of software development processes, project management, resource management, web infrastructure, and information security. The role also involves performing research on project feasibility, presenting findings to management, and developing high-level product specifications with a focus on system integration. The Software Developer Lead will be expected to have a strong background in developing complex software solutions and a keen sense of security and information protection, ensuring that all software solutions meet the highest standards of quality and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee complex software development projects and ensure successful delivery.
  • Collaborate with team members to determine functional and non-functional requirements for software.
  • Serve as the technical expert on software development, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Create high-level software specifications and address systems integration issues.
  • Utilize the latest technology to solve compatibility problems in software.
  • Conduct research on project feasibility and present findings to management.
  • Develop high-level product specifications with attention to system integration.
  • Ensure compliance with security and information protection standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical field required.
  • 10+ years of experience in software development is required.
  • 2+ years of experience working in a Health Care environment preferred.
  • Experience in development using C#.NET is required.
  • Experience developing solutions in a Microsoft environment is required.
  • Master's degree in computer science or related technical field preferred.
  • Experience with continuous integration is a plus.
  • Experience in Microsoft SharePoint development/administration is a plus.
  • Knowledge of OOP/OOD and experience in building responsive user interfaces.

Nice-to-haves

  • Microsoft Software Solutions Development certification is a plus.
  • Other software certifications are a plus.
  • PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) is a plus.
