About the position

The Sr. Mobile Development Engineer leads the technical aspects of IT solution delivery, strategic planning, and operational excellence. With expertise in full-stack development, this role focuses on designing and building sophisticated, highly scalable applications, preferably using Flutter for the frontend and AWS backend web services. The engineer manages the overall health of the technology ecosystem, overseeing the design of solutions to meet business needs and support the IT strategy. They provide technical guidance in collaboration with Architecture and cross-organizational input, aligning with business unit objectives. Acting as a consultant to business managers, architecture, security, and operations teams, they drive cross-awareness of business needs and opportunities, bringing innovative solutions to the business line through their technical expertise. They continuously identify and implement improvements in cost, security, operation, and functionality within their domain.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support solution lifecycle technical activities.
  • Ensure solutions are designed for optimal user experience and operational performance.
  • Oversee design, integrating Enterprise Architecture, Security, Operations, and Compliance aspects.
  • Provide input on cost and schedule estimation.
  • Ensure overall integrity of system design and operation.
  • Oversee vendor activities.
  • Conduct peer reviews and approve system changes and technical solution designs.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced team members.
  • Partner cross-organizationally to drive cost-effective, optimal solutions.
  • Provide in-depth technical information to stakeholders as needed.
  • Innovate using emerging industry capabilities and evolving customer needs.
  • Contribute to the strategic roadmap and technical dependencies.
  • Stay current on and apply technical industry knowledge relevant to the domain.
  • Review solution performance and continually assess system health.
  • Track and address operational and technical debt risks.
  • Provide escalated support for incident and problem management.
  • Use analytics to improve availability, reliability, efficiency, and capacity.

Requirements

  • Ten years of related functional experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Technology, Science, Business, or a related field, or 4 years of equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, effective across varying organizational levels and skill sets, with the ability to translate technical and non-technical concepts.
  • Strong relationship management and collaboration skills, with a proven track record of cross-organizational teamwork driving innovation and business results.
  • Expertise in managing the lifecycle of technical solutions.
  • Deep subject matter expertise within the respective system domain products, platforms, processes, and architecture.
  • Broad and deep knowledge of technology architecture, infrastructure, network, security, and software principles and models.
  • Experience partnering with internal and external vendors.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of future technology trends within the area of expertise.
  • Demonstrated leadership in technical aspects of large-scale projects.
  • Experience coaching other developers in system deployment or operational troubleshooting.
  • Experience with delivery methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Scrum) and operational models (ITIL).
  • Understanding of core IT Service Management functions, such as Change Management and Incident Management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Utility industry experience is preferred.
