About the position

The Software Developer - OneView position at Paycom involves high-paced software development for both internal and external projects, requiring strong verbal and written communication skills. The role focuses on integrating products and services with outside entities, utilizing organizational skills along with knowledge in payroll, accounting, or the benefits industry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform software development of a variety of projects ranging from industry-wide services to client-specific reports and other interfacing technologies.
  • Create development code for product modules such as Payroll, Talent Acquisition, Time Management, Human Resources, Talent Management, and Reports.
  • Create development code that is standard for the Human Capital Management (HCM) industry.
  • Create development code and reports that are customized to clients as needed, such as EDI.
  • Create development code and reports that are customized to Paycom departments as needed.
  • Make adjustments to code after testing to ensure it addresses testing concerns.
  • Partner with technology professionals such as developers, quality assurance, and application support on software projects of all sizes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance product by sharing ideas.
  • Work with quality assurance to ensure codes and data are accurate.
  • Assist Application Support in deployment and support of projects as needed.
  • Utilize project management software, issue tracking, and source control solutions to track communication about development specs, development, testing, and fixes.
  • Participate in team and project meetings to collaborate on concepts and designs.
  • Collaborate with non-technical professionals such as customer support, clients, and vendors on software projects of all sizes.
  • Clarify specifications with product managers as needed.
  • Gather feedback on client needs and suggestions with customer support.
  • Clarify and test report and EDI data with clients.
  • Adhere to organizational processes and track project metrics and statuses.
  • Utilize Jira to track time usage on projects and meetings.
  • Evaluate stages in projects with application support and quality assurance.
  • Participate in daily standup meetings.
  • Track communications with clients/vendors, being the primary project contact for some projects as needed.
  • Ensure client satisfaction and eliminate ambiguity in client needs through communication.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, engineering, or a related degree; similar education combinations may be considered.
  • Education, training, or experience in one or more of object-oriented programming, business intelligence tools, or mobile application development.
  • Demonstrated SQL programming and/or database experience and the ability to integrate multiple databases is preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with attention to detail and process.
  • Demonstrated skills with project management tools and methodologies, software development lifecycle, and problem solving.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet stated customer-initiated deadlines.
