About the position

The Software Developer, Physical Plant & Environmental Safety IT Products will be responsible for developing and configuring back-end services product solutions, ensuring adherence to coding best practices and standards. This role is crucial in ensuring that all functionalities and capabilities meet the diverse needs of customers, partners, and key stakeholders. The developer will translate requirements into code that enhances usability, creates business value, and elevates the customer experience. Additionally, the developer will conduct testing, troubleshooting, and debugging to ensure optimal performance of the applications developed. In this position, the developer will also engage in research of emerging technologies and industry practices relevant to Physical Plant & Environmental Safety IT Products. They will make recommendations regarding best practices and technologies for adoption and provide input for continual improvement activities for assigned projects. The Software Developer will play a significant role in positively impacting UCLA's operations and culture by enabling University stakeholders to effectively leverage financial management products and applications. This team member will contribute to advancing the University's mission by delivering exceptional information technology services consistently across faculty, staff, and students. The role requires executing UCLA's vision while modeling the institution's culture and values. The position offers a full pay range, with actual salary offers considering various factors such as budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure, certifications, and other business considerations. The salary offers at the top of the range are not common, and the job provides benefits that start on day one, enhancing the overall compensation package.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and configure back-end services product solutions adhering to coding best practices and standards.
  • Translate requirements into code that enhances usability and creates business value.
  • Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and debugging to ensure optimal performance.
  • Research emerging technologies and industry practices for Physical Plant & Environmental Safety IT Products.
  • Make recommendations regarding best practices and technologies for adoption.
  • Provide input for continual improvement activities for assigned projects.
  • Enable University stakeholders to effectively leverage financial management products and applications.
  • Deliver exceptional information technology services across faculty, staff, and students.

Requirements

  • Three years experience in information technology, computer science, management, or a related field.
  • Three years experience in higher education, higher education auxiliary services, physical plant services, environmental safety services, or a related field.
  • Experience developing with C#, .NET Framework, .NET Core, API Development, Entity Framework, Visual Studio IDE, REST API, Sharepoint.
  • Experience with front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript.
  • Experience developing in on-premise, cloud, and mixed environments.
  • Experience with database systems such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL, Angular, Azure cloud, and supporting SQL jobs with complex stored procedures.
  • Experience with planning for deployment and creating feedback mechanisms.
  • Experience developing and executing complex test plans.
  • Knowledge and skill in secure software development, software repository skills, and software specification, design, modification, implementation, and deployment of large-scale scope.
  • Knowledge of SDLC/ALM tools such as Git Repo, Azure DevOps, and CI/CD.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate technical information to a diverse community.
  • Ability to establish and advance positive working relationships with team members, stakeholders, and customers.
  • Strong organizational skills to balance competing priorities and support concurrent projects.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to scope solutions based on available resources and timelines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Five or more years experience in information technology, computer science, management, or a related field.
