About the position

The Mid-level Software Developer in Test (SDET) position at Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. (SGA) is a contract role focused on collaborating with developers and product teams to enhance user-centered designs and ensure high-quality software delivery. This remote position requires a strong understanding of agile methodologies and a testing mindset, with responsibilities that include usability testing, API integration, and performance optimization.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with developers and product teams to develop user-centered designs that align with business goals.
• Perform technical review and resolve any technical challenges.
• Understand agile development methodologies and test-driven development practices.
• Conduct usability testing and gather user feedback to improve the user experience.
• Work with software developers to integrate APIs and ensure smooth data flows between front-end and back-end systems.
• Identify and troubleshoot problems, optimize performance, and ensure accessibility standards are met.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Design, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3-4+ years of hands-on experience with Python.
• Experience with testing frameworks such as Karate or Playwright.
• Familiarity with AWS services - Lambda & API Gateway.
• Experience with document-based databases like MongoDB.
• Knowledge of development best practices, usability testing, and accessibility standards.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Strong proficiency in front-end technologies such as Angular and JavaScript/TypeScript.
