About the position

The Software Developer Senior Advisor will play a crucial role in supporting federal civilian agencies by providing modernization and lifecycle support for Information Technology infrastructure related to the FAA's Traffic Flow Management (TFM) functionality. This position involves designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions that enhance the capabilities of air traffic management systems, ensuring compliance with software standards and improving operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design Java EE/Jakarta EE software using object-oriented design patterns
• Develop applications to solve highly complex technical challenges
• Document, test, and debug applications software and systems that contain algorithmic and mathematical solutions
• Develop test harnesses to support software testing
• Provide software support for a real-time air traffic management system
• Debug software problems and provide solutions
• Develop software requirements
• Document verification and validation of solution sets and protocols
• Conduct systems analysis and recommend changes in policies and procedures
• Ensure compliance with software standards

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related field
• Ten (10) years related experience
• Extensive experience using Java EE/Jakarta EE
• Experience implementing GUIs with Swing
• Experience with ORM frameworks (Eclipselink, Hibernate)
• Experience using C/C++
• Experience working within an Agile development environment
• Experience implementing various software life cycles including Agile/Scrum
• Strong Linux knowledge/experience
• Extensive knowledge of SQL, XML, JSON, YAML, and experience with relational databases
• Demonstrated strength in solving complex problems
• Cloud experience
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Ansible and/or containerization/virtualization (ex: Docker, Podman, Skopeo, Buildah, Kubernetes, Openshift)
