About the position

The Software Developer Sr. Advisor at GDIT will play a crucial role in modernizing and supporting the FAA's Traffic Flow Management (TFM) functionality. This position involves designing and developing software solutions, conducting systems analysis, and ensuring compliance with software standards to enhance operational capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Design Java EE/Jakarta EE software using object-oriented design patterns
  • Develop, document, test, and debug applications software and systems with algorithmic and mathematical solutions
  • Create applications to address complex technical challenges
  • Develop test harnesses to support software testing
  • Provide software support for a real-time air traffic management system
  • Debug software issues and propose solutions
  • Develop software requirements and document verification and validation of solutions
  • Conduct systems analysis to recommend changes in policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with software standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related field
  • 10+ years of related experience
  • Extensive experience using Java EE/Jakarta EE
  • Experience implementing GUIs with Swing
  • Experience with ORM frameworks (Eclipselink, Hibernate)
  • Experience using C/C++
  • Experience working within an Agile development environment
  • Experience implementing various software life cycles including Agile/Scrum
  • Strong Linux knowledge/experience
  • Extensive knowledge of SQL, XML, JSON, YAML, and experience with relational databases
  • Demonstrated strength in solving complex problems
  • Cloud experience
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Ansible and/or containerization/virtualization (e.g., Docker, Podman, Skopeo, Buildah, Kubernetes, Openshift)
