About the position

ALTA IT has a Direct Hire position open for a Software Developer with a Top Secret clearance. This role is crucial in supporting the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency's (NGA) Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) mission, which involves collecting sciences, technology, and tradecraft to measure and model the globe, providing three-dimensional accuracy of every point in, on, or above the Earth. The Software Developer will be responsible for the development of mission-critical capabilities that are migrated to modern, cloud-based environments, utilizing DevSecOps technologies for deployment automation, service-oriented architectures, and modern code management tools and programming languages. As a lead engineer, the Software Developer will work on transforming existing enterprise software into modern cloud-native applications. This transformation aims to reduce the time to launch and increase the frequency of releases. The role includes architecting and developing software for an application modernization project for the customer, focusing on modernizing the government customer's tools stack and deploying them to AWS cloud. The position requires a proactive self-starter with a positive attitude and excellent communication skills, who can effectively collaborate with various stakeholders to achieve project goals.

Responsibilities

• Support the development of mission-critical capabilities migrated to modern, cloud-based environments.
• Utilize DevSecOps technologies for deployment automation and service-oriented architectures.
• Architect and develop software for an application modernization project.
• Transform existing enterprise software into modern cloud-native applications.
• Reduce time to launch and increase release frequency of software.
• Modernize the government customer's tools stack and deploy them to AWS cloud.

Requirements

• Top Secret Security Clearance is required.
• Proactive self-starter with a positive attitude and excellent communication skills.
• Strong expertise in Microsoft platform ecosystem: C++, Visual Basic.NET, and C#.
• Proficient in software development or software integration projects in a service-oriented environment (Cloud, SOA, Web-Services).
• Hands-on experience with relational and non-relational database systems such as Amazon RDS and Postgres SQL.
• Experience with web-related protocols and technologies, such as web servers, HTTP, and SSL.
• Experience with AWS-based architectures and tools.
• Understanding of custom code development and reviews.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps methodologies and workflow.
• Knowledge of software development and sustainment practices.
• Typically requires a BS in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or closely related discipline and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or a Master's with 6+ years of prior relevant experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with GitLab CI/CD.
• AWS certification (e.g., Developer, DevOps Engineer, Solutions Architect).
• Experience with ArcGIS or geospatial technologies.
